After all the economic gloom of 2011, local people are being encouraged to seek a new start in 2012 through a very successful personal development programme.
Eddie Brownlee from Larne was a recent Exploring Enterprise participant. Eddie commented, "After being made unemployed, my self-confidence had been knocked. Exploring Enterprise really encouraged me to positively explore new opportunities. The training, mentoring and one to one support made all the difference. I would strongly recommend the programme."
Delivered by LEDCOM on behalf of Larne Borough Council and Enterprise Northern Ireland, Exploring Enterprise 2 is geared towards supporting individuals back into employment and helping them develop possible business ideas.
Councillor Bobby McKee, MBE, Mayor of the Borough of Larne, encouraged the local community to take advantage of the support offered through Exploring Enterprise.
"Larne Borough Council is delighted to be involved in providing practical support to help our local residents improve their employment prospects as well as potentially developing new business ideas. In difficult economic times, people need all the help they can get and this is an opportunity not to be missed", said Councillor McKee.
The programme is provided free to eligible participants and enables them to achieve an accredited qualification in order to improve their CVs and prospects for employment/self-employment.
Patricia Brennan, LEDCOM's Exploring Enterprise Programme Manager, explained that the Programme, "aims to help people into sustainable employment or self employment through mentoring, training and by gaining a recognised qualification. Participants can include the long term unemployed, lone parents, stay at home mums, people with disabilities or with low or no qualifications, young people not in education, older workers and the recently retired. There are no qualifications required to gain entry to the programme which is delivered at a pace specifically tailored to suit individual needs."
This project is part-financed by Larne Borough Council, the European Social Fund, the Department for Employment and Learning, Enterprise Northern Ireland & the Local Enterprise Agencies under the Northern Ireland ESF Programme 2007-13
Places for the Exploring Enterprise 2 programme in the Linn Community Centre, Larne - which will be running from Thursday 26 January 2012 - are limited. Anyone interested should contact Patricia Brennan at LEDCOM on: 028 28270742 or patriciabrennan@ledcom.org.
