| Larne's claimant count of 3.0% is below the Northern Ireland
average. As the premier ferry port in Northern Ireland, Larne has
a solid manufacturing and excellent sub-supply base. The town has
a lower dependence on public sector employment in comparison to
Northern Ireland as a whole. Major employers include FG Wilson
(part of the Caterpillar Group), Premier Power and IVEX
Pharmaceuticals. In addition, it is estimated that the presence of
the port has indirectly created over 3,000 jobs. |
