Larne's education and training resources are first class. The
district's four grammar and secondary schools offer GCSE, 'A'
Level and vocational options in a wide range of subjects.
Academic performance is excellent.
Queens University Belfast (QUB) is only 22 miles away and
the University of Ulster's campus at Jordanstown (UUJ) 18 miles.
At the newly opened East Antrim Institute of Further and Higher
Education (EAIFHE) campus, a range of programmes and courses will
be offered from September 2004.
Sponsored by the Department of Employment & Learning,
Larne's Recognised Training Organisations (RTO's) meet the
training needs of school leavers and employers. Larne Skills
Development, a local training initiative specialising in
engineering training, and the EAIFHE together provide specialist
training and qualifications such as National Vocational
Qualifications (NVQ) to Level 3. |
